Schools gear up for induction day

Manama, Preparations are in full swing to hold induction days for parents at schools, ahead of the reinstatement of in-person learning, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and those of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The relevant work teams at schools have made round-the-clock efforts to better prepare for the induction days.

The Ministry of Education has invited parents and set a timetable for all government schools to host the induction days, which will kick off tomorrow and run until Tuesday, September 6, from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.

Parents will be presented with portfolios, including the necessary information about the new academic year and a voucher to purchase school stationary and supplies.

Bahrain strongly condemns Argentina’s VP assassination attempt

Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain has condemned the assassination attempt against the Vice President of the Republic of Argentina, Dr. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, denouncing in the strongest terms this heinous terrorist act.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also affirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with Argentina and its friendly people, extending its full support for all that would preserve Argentina’s security and stability.

It further reiterated the Kingdom’s position rejecting all acts of violence, extremism and terrorism, regardless of their motives and justifications.

BDF opens doors for civilian volunteers to join Reserve Force

Manama, The General Command of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) has invited civilians to volunteer to join the Reserve Force in continuation of the first phase.

Those eligible to register are relatives of the military and civilian staff and retirees of the BDF and the National Guard.

Applicants should register on the BDF’s website using the following link: https://www.bdf.bh, provided that:

1- They are Bahrainis.

2- They are aged between 18 and 55. However, technicians and specialists are exempted from the upper age limit requirement.

3- They should have good conduct, and not convicted by a court for felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or dishonesty.

4- They are medically fit for military service in the reserve force, and successfully pass the medical examination prescribed by the system of the BDF’s military medical committees.

5- They should submit an application for volunteering on the form on the website.

The BDF General Command affirmed that contributing to the protection of the homeland and maintaining its security, stability and territorial integrity is a sacred national duty and an honor for citizens. The Reserve Force Law, promulgated by Decree-Law (5) of 1987 and the regulations and instructions issued pursuant thereto, regulates all rights and duties of the Reserve Force as an auxiliary force for BDF and guarantees the benefits and entitlements that result from that.

The General Command indicated that during the first stage, the door to volunteering shall be limited to male citizens of the relatives of the affiliates of BDF and the National Guard, military, civilians and retirees. Meanwhile, in the second stage, an announcement will be made to open the door to volunteering for the rest of the social groups (males and females).

Ambassador to Belgium presents credentials to European Council President

Brussels, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, conveyed the utmost greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and those of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, where the Bahraini Ambassador noted Bahrain’s pride in the Bahrain-EU growing bilateral relations.

This came when the Ambassador presented his credentials to the European Council President, as the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Ambassador to the European Union.

The European Council President commended the level of Bahraini-European relations, and emphasised the need to continue working towards further cooperation in various fields, wishing the Ambassador success in his diplomatic duties.

A number of regional and international issues of common interest were also discussed during the meeting.

BTEA organizes 10-day Road to Manama

Manama, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) announced plans to host a heritage event at the Manama Souq for 10 days.

The move seeks to fulfill one of the objectives towards promoting Bahraini heritage tourism.

The Manama Souq is one of the most significant tourist destinations and one of the oldest commercial markets in the world that emphasize the role of historical and cultural heritage in attracting tourists.

This event will be part of the authority’s ongoing programs to attract more locals, residents, visitors and tourists.

This “Road to Manama” will be organized by BTEA on September 22 – October 1, during evening hours. It will include various workshops designed to introduce children and teenagers to traditional Bahraini crafts and teach them how to master them.

The event will also offer different Bahraini-focused seminars designed to help participants uncover their skills and talents as well as filling their time with practical knowledge and abilities in a variety of disciplines.

The “Road to Manama” will be accompanied by a host of public events that include traditional Bahraini games, musical performances, children’s storytelling.

A puppet show will be staged on September 22 – 24 in conjunction with Saudi National Day.

The “Road to Manama” is specifically targeted to different age groups of visitors, children and young adults to ingrain the Bahraini national heritage in their minds, as it contributes to the definition of Bahraini heritage and its acquisitions.

At the same time, it connects them to the professions of their fathers and grandfathers that once formed the foundations of Bahrain’s economic prosperity.

It also introduces them to the ancient cultural heritage of the Souq by taking them on a tour through its various corners and roads, such as Manama’s ancillary marketplaces, the blacksmiths market and others, Dr. Nasser Qaedi, CEO of the BTEA, said.

Dr. Qaedi emphasized that the event highlights the Manama Souq as a location to draw young people as well, in addition to their families participating in this event.

He confirmed BTEA’s interest in the Manama Souq as a significant tourist attraction and added that the authority is in the process of organizing two future tourism events in the Manama Souq.

The events, the outdoor cinema and the design competition, will be held in November and December.

BTEA has organized several events in the Manama Souq recently, including the “Manama Gold Festival” and a popular fashion show.

The authority is also cooperating with the Kanoo family to promote the Family Museum in the Souq area.

Customs President receives BACA President

Manama, President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has received President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

The Customs President congratulated BACA President on the precious trust bestowed upon him by appointing him to his post.

He wished him all the best in his new assignments.

Both sides reviewed topics of common interest and cooperation for Bahrain’s development.

Deputy Chief of Public Security leads Bahrain’s delegation to UNCOPS

New York, Deputy Chief of Public Security, Major-General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa chaired the Bahrain delegation at the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS).

Ambassador Jamal Rowaiei, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, attended the event, which was held here from August 31 to September 1.

The Deputy Chief asserted the dedication of Bahrain to promoting global security cooperation to face increasing international security challenges and achieve security and peace for all. He highlighted the significance of continuing efforts to reinforce cooperation and coordination through exchanging expertise and experiences in countering terrorism and organised crimes.

The summit reviewed the latest trends in global peace and security, along with the contributions of UN police in international security efforts.
